Anyone can pass a test... But it is quite telling that while claiming to have a superior grasp of knowledge, he fails even to understand what a basic ad hominem is... tsk tsk.
in fact my test taking skill have always vastly outstripped my algrebra skill, but some would have you believe that my score on both the SATs and PSATs indicated a high level of functionality with Algebra.
Meh...show me where I claimed to have a superior grasp on knowledge.
"making assertions without supporting them does imply a diminished intellectual capacity"
Was I incorrect in seeing this as a sort of attack within a comment which put forth no other argument?
Besides, the worst you can say is that I applied the concept badly. plural claimed that I used an ad hominem in defense of myself, despite "ad hominem" translating to "against the man," and being defined as an attempt to discredit another person in lieu of putting forth an argument...you've not mentioned that.
hahaha...so plural's the only one who can say things he doesn't mean in order to draw people out? I even said later that I was bored and wanted to see reactions to that (in fact, the entire argument ended up being focused on that rather than the "discrimination" bit), but nobody seems to have picked up on that.
I still don't think anyone showed that a person can do that without at least understanding logic, they just said I was stupid without showing why.
It used to annoy me a lot. Then I learned to speak postmodern academic and break them apart in their own language and was amused by it. I have some stories from NYU that are both terrifying and/or amusing depending on one's take.
As I head back into academia I need to be really really wary of it. In logic and historical fact I trust however.
for me it cheap amusement [as I dont have cable television]
especially since the arguments they throw themselves against, while logically sound in the careful way I phrase them are easily circumvented if one could just calm down enough to think clearly and logically about them.
as this fellow unlike more, did eventually discover, but only after sixteen blathering attempts.
Download emulators and play Final Fantasy games. That's what I did most of the time between your comments.
Are you still under the impression that I was serious about the SAT bit? I'll admit that you did draw me into an argument, but I usually do the same with other people. In this case, I got a little complacent since you didn't set yourself apart from the usual livejournal user until after the SAT comment, with which I dug a hole people wouldn't let me get out of. It's good mental exercise, and a way to kill time.
I recognized it, but wasn't sure what it was a reference to. I figured I could kill more time by taking it literally.
Unless the nunnery was equipped with a PlayStation 2 or a whole bunch of books outside the religious ones I'm sure they have, I'd probably spontaneously combust out of boredom.
hahaha...impeccable logic. So one must have read "Romeo and Juliet" to recognize "Wherefore art thou," and forgetting is the same as not knowing? Nice.
I'll just leave the "not knowing a given line means you're inadequately educated" bit alone, since I can most likely quote various lines you wouldn't recognize, or have forgotten...not to mention that education is not solely based on plays (which I am thinking that line is from)

but it is neither relevant nor meaningful
[even if it is true]

That you did not recognize it, is indeed a sign of an inadequate education.
I suggest that you spend less time mastubating with your playstation, and instead make a minimal attempt to educate yourself
