Oh dear. Don't you realize that Christians don't read the bible? Silly.

Seriously: Reading the bible was a big factor in my renouncement of Christianity. That said, I still have a deep appreciation for the philosophy of Jesus Christ (as it's been handed down to us, anyway, all disclaimers obviously apply).

Reminds me of having a religious conversation with my Neo-Con fundie boss the other day... he wanted to defend his right to be offended by the word "hell" and ask that I not say it. I said I dont mind cutting off the "goddamneds" but no way Im going to skirt the word hell which is a completely appropriate word.

Suddenly we were talking about the nature of Christ, Christ in Islam, Muhammed, the nature of God, The Bible, etc... and he finally just stopped and said, "Are you well read about the bible because you believe it, or well read about it because you dont?"

"Because I dont."

And he just shrugged and said, "Thats so sad." and ended it.

Hehe.. my guess is that it was just so sad that I, a nonbeliever (I didnt mention that I was Pagan, but hey), knew more about the bible than he...
