To the contrary, I found your post fabulous on several levels. Not to mention it amuses me to envision you sitting there in our conversations...
"wow, normally lucid but maybe he's had just one too many bourbons tonight"
as for tinfoil hats
Originally a group of ufo/alien abduction conspiracy theorist decided that tinfoil hats would protect them from alien mind control rays. This was the ported by general society to refer to any raving conspiracy theorist. Now it pretty much refers to when you lose rationality on a subject. an example of usage:
"Just dont get him started on politics, he'll put on his tinfoil hat and rant for an hour about Bushitler's secret moon mining projects."
I'm pretty sure I voiced sceptcism at the time... Whenever I thought back to your argument, it always seemed to hinge on this idea of a belief that there exists people who were essentially 'broken' with respect to working within society... A point of view I generally can't accept to be true... until now... I feel so... dirty.
We've had many quite enjoyable conversations on that and many other topics.
Hmm, I think I'd term it a little differently, as it isnt the people I think are broken but the society and it has for so long been so intentionally broken that many of its members do not remember how it should work. Additionally it is a population so propigandized that most are trained to refuse anything but the unconditional meeting of their demands.
The failure to compromise I think is the most damaging because in essence it is what holds a society together most and smooths out the wrinkles of human interaction.
I hear you on that last bit. The entirely tangled mess is tragic and depressing to me.
