BBC news - Young Americans who pledge to remain virgins until they marry have the same rates of sexually transmitted diseases as those who do not, a new study says.

Apparently you need to wear condoms even when you dont have sex

the creative definition of "sex" works wonders for your "virginity" ... technically i was a virgin until I was 20, but I'd gotten far more action than many of my non-virgin friends. not that I was slutty even, but my boyfriends only lasted a month or two, and a lot of non-virgins are in long-term relationships. A lot of virgins are hooking up indiscriminately and doing "everything but" intercourse but not worrying about protection cause they can't get pregnant. Also, when they finally do it, most of them aren't prepared with condoms.

hehehe.

but on a more serious note, at least one of the diseases going around now are hard to prevent even with a condom - like HPV. that one is kinda scary.

I never really understood this blind abstinence while everything else was Ok. I mean .. yeah, pregnancy .. but get on the pill, or better yet, use condoms so you don't get a DISEASE. Sex is no big deal.

i went to catholic school, and the 'worst thing that can happen' in that case is to get pregnant. especially since catholics supposedly don't believe in abortion. of course, there is a lot of hypocrisy -- e.g. the rich still get special privileges and send their pregnant daughters away to get abortions or put their babies up for adoption.

thus, intercourse = bad
everything else = okay as long as you don't talk about it
