BBC news - Young Americans who pledge to remain virgins until they marry have the same rates of sexually transmitted diseases as those who do not, a new study says.

Apparently you need to wear condoms even when you dont have sex

I never really understood this blind abstinence while everything else was Ok. I mean .. yeah, pregnancy .. but get on the pill, or better yet, use condoms so you don't get a DISEASE. Sex is no big deal.

i went to catholic school, and the 'worst thing that can happen' in that case is to get pregnant. especially since catholics supposedly don't believe in abortion. of course, there is a lot of hypocrisy -- e.g. the rich still get special privileges and send their pregnant daughters away to get abortions or put their babies up for adoption.

thus, intercourse = bad
everything else = okay as long as you don't talk about it
