Birthday thoughts, on a much lighter note

I would like to thank
all of you
for expressing kind wishes
on my birthday

I have been bombarded today
with phone calls and emails
from people I care about
wishing me well

does make one feel loved

Anyway
it is far to beautiful a day
to spend inside
I am going out to
lead my imaginary parade
around greenlake

in such a parade
all are welcome
I do hope you will join me.

this will actually consist
of laying on the grass
reading from the stack of four books
I bought for myself
as a birthday present

My Sister sent me something
a birthday blurb so to speak
which I think I will share with you all

For a birthday today hasn't been bad
a little strange but what day isn't

It was a day of being alone
with the company of distant friends and family
so many people reached out
and reminded me of their presence

I spent part of the afternoon
lying in the grass
reading "The man who fell in love with the moon"
I highly recommend it

It is strange
how you can be in the world at times
yet not be a part of it

I saw people
walking
jogging
driving
all around me

I did not speak a word
to the face of another human being today
all my communications through a veil of technology

I am making myself some birthday brownies
I love brownies
but cant really eat them
as sweets make me sick

I think it is the idea which counts
somewhere I am sure
I have some birthday candles
left over from prior years

My cats pace tight circles around my legs while I mix.

Today I have been alone, but I have not felt lonely

I watched "October Sky"
it always touches my heart
if you have not seen it
do so
it is quite good.

I think
I will curl up with my book
and eat brownies until I am ill

for no better reason

than I enjoy it
