I donno dude, my father once chided me for not continuing the bender beyond his typical three hour dinners with an after hours trek to a jazz club by telling me I needed to learn how to drink like a man, and part of that is learning how to drink all night AND still be able to take an exam the next day.

The Hoyts were at the very first triathlon I ever went to when I started training. I remember the father swimming towing the boat. No one else seemed to think this was weird so I half thought this was sort of a normal thing in the triathlon community. I realized later how extraordinary they really are. But I kind of liked it before I knew that: I liked living in a world where this was normal.

I could fantasize about living in a world where that was normal
even if it was just for a day

but I'm honestly content to have it be extraordinary
just so long as it happens
