I want to guess (based on nothing but the title) the outcome before I watch it (probably tomorrow, I've had wine -- but I will watch it). My guess is that it explains that a small percentage of extremists are screwing up everything for everyone else... Just like the religious nutties here. Etc., etc. (Like John Dean's book explains, which is very good, btw.) Cult of personality, blind leader-worship, religiously skewed towards violence deadly-mixed with the authoritarian (power hungry, profit hungry, no soul/no conscious types) personality in charge or with heavy influence or totally willing to become a 'false idol' to further their power grab.

And war = power/cash/etc.

We're all screwed because no amount of logic, rationality or uh, anything, will help. These people feel the way to heaven is to blow shit up, so the rest of us are screeewwwwed.

amirite?

somewhat, it takes a deep look at radical islamic militancy, through interviews with a number of arab moderates (as well as some western intellectuals).

It doesnt so much take the we're screwed approach as we need to wake up and speak up now, support and encourage the moderates within Islam.

I am not sure how we can support and encourage moderates if we keep allowing 'our' extremists to poke them with sticks in the name of their [insert god, reason, etc.] here.

The moderates on all sides are continually punished for what the extremists do. Why? Are they really lacking effort or willingness to change? I don't think so. I think we're all just so burned (or maybe our ears are still ringing?) that it's hard to listen when they want to do something positive (coughIRANcough).

Maybe it's just my logic but wouldn't that sort of treatment be more likely to turn a moderate in to an extremist. I know I've become a total extremist, I just happen to be on the side of life, liberty and all that other junk.
