I thought we got past the whole "she was asking for it" shit.

a professor of social anthropology at the University of Oslo (who was described as having "lived for many years in Muslim countries") as saying that "Norwegian women must take their share of responsibility for these rapes" because Muslim men found their manner of dress provocative. One reason for the high number of rapes by Muslims, explained the professor, was that in their native countries "rape is scarcely punished," since Muslims "believe that it is women who are responsible for rape." The professor's conclusion was not that Muslim men living in the West needed to adjust to Western norms, but the exact opposite: "Norwegian women must realize that we live in a multicultural society and adapt themselves to it."

Thanks for this link. I read the whole bloody article and was amazed at the things I didn't know about Islamic immigrants.

I find myself wanting to say something awful about Islam, as a woman I can't help myself. But as a human with an open mind I must refrain.

I though the discussion of how the dutch treat the islamists (as opposed to fundamentalist christians) was interesting. A few liberal people I know hold the same [double] standard.

Actually, that isnt a leftist view at all... this view has been around as an excuse for rape has been around since the beginning of time.. see: The Bible, that womens dress, hair, and manner are what make lust in men, which is a sin. It is a womans fault if she doesnt cover her hair, if she dresses provocavtively, if she acts in a particular manner that causes lust and even rape.. and the blame is placed squarely on the womens shoulders rather than the mans... look at ANY patriarchal society, ALL are liken to lay blame with women for rape.

HIs view isnt liberal or leftist.. his view is, what I call, "asshole".

When I was attacked by a stranger on the street, I was wearing a long skirt, which my grandma layed the blame of the attack on, so she bought me a bunch of pants so men wouldnt be so tempted to molest me in the middle of the street.
