so my phone company
[Vonage
totally rocks

they just launched their UK service
which means I can get a london phone number
[or anywhere else in the UK for that matter]
not that I need a london phone number
but still
its pretty neat

of course

I'm waiting for them to include the UK in my free calling plan
[I already get unlimited calling within the US and Canada]

and and and

they're releasing wi-fi service here soon
which means I'll be able to use my phone
at existing wi-fi hotspots around the globe
like that doesnt kick ass

[shameless promo]

if you have a high speed connection
[128k and above although it can manage on 96k and still sound good]
[if you're curious about sound quality]
[go ask [livejournal.com profile] budhaboy who got to play with mine when I visited him]
[yep its totally portable, so if you travel you can take your phone with ya]
[and not have to bother with people hammering your cell]
[or ridiculously high hotel phone rates]
you should check it out
[at the link above]
and if you're interested gimme your email
If I refer ya you get a special deal
[and I get a free month]
so
its a good thing

[/shameless promo]

oh an in other news

I picked up a few DVDs yesterday

A fish called Wanda - for 10 bucks which totally rocks
The Cooler - cause Bill Macy is abfab
American Pie 2 - cause even though it sucks, I have the other two and it was cheap
Paycheck - I havent seen it yet, but it was selling for 6.99 and blockbuster gives a minimum 5$ credit when buying DVDs so if I dont like it I can return it and it will still be cheaper than if I rented it

pretty spiffy

I so need to update my DVD collection
but I suck
and would rather hit the slopes
so
off I go

love love

indeed

speaking of my tax dollars

I have a statisical question for you

They have these things called 50/50s up here
it is rather like a charity raffle

you buy a ticket for a dollar
and if you win you get half of the pot
the other half goes to whatever cause

from what I have seen the average week
the winner gets about a grand

which would give rough odds of 1 in 2000 to win

what I want to know is if one was to purcase tickets in volume, what is the statistical break even point with the obvious upper limit of 1/2 of the total tickets sold (otherwise you would lose money even if you won)

Given as I have tomorrow off for the coronation, I'll actually get around to thinking about that one...
