[aka fun with fundies]
[so some christian fundi sent me the message below in response to a photograph of mine]
[I had posted on a photography site, entitled "The Kiss"]
[so I emailed him back and the following is our conversation so far]
[yes I realize it is hopeless but I don't have cable so I need to amuse myself somehow]
[his comments are in italics and I have neither edited nor altered his messages]
[as much it pains me to leave his atrocious spelling intact]

You need help! This is still a family site! Take your PORN somewhere else!!!

I have to admit I was so surprised by your comment as to think it must have been a joke, but after taking a closer look I find that it isn't.
how entirely tragic for you.
With enough therapy you can most likely get over your own repressed homosexual desires to the degree that you are not threatened by others or feel the need to lash out with such vitriol.
I realize your fear and ignorance are to blame for your hurtful words and so I am willing to find forgiveness in my heart for you and your deeds.
I will pray that the good lord will also find the same forgiveness within his heart and guide you from the path of hate to a loving path.
Have a wonderful day and I hope that one day you too will find the joy of living a life in the love and light of the lord.

One question. Is the picture of two women or not? If so then I
need a retraction from your "tit for tat" coments on my site! I
would like to here from you......

The photo is indeed of two women, as I was well aware of when I
responded to your comment. And the comment was in no way a tit for
tat or anything of the sort, rather my open and heart felt response
and sincere wishes that you will let god and his love into your
heart.

What God do you serve? The one that I know says two women together
is a sin! Ever read the Bible? In all actuality it was Love that
made me put in a coment. You sir "NEED HELP"!!! Not me. I stand on
the ROCK. That is the Bible. Try it you might learn to see! Maybe
you would at least see what side your on! Yes, it seems to me very
much "tit for tat" You didn't like my coments so you stuck out to
degrade me with yours. Sorry Sir, but you need help. This is not
OK!! For children to see as OK. Please rethink your
position.........

I serve the god of the old testament, the god of Abraham, Isaac and the god of Jesus. I have indeed read the bible and it does indeed say that two women having sexual intercourse is a sin. However my photo does not depict that sexual act.

Even if it is a sin, does not Jesus love the sinner as well as the saint? The path of the righteous is through the love of god and his infinite mercy, not hatred and bigotry. The rock of hatred and bigotry is not the lords rock, and it is not the lord but Satan who stands with you on that rock, injecting his venom into your heart.

I pray that you will open your heart to god's love and cast out the hatred with which Satan has poisoned your heart.

I have talked with other Christions about your emails, and your picture. Sir The agreement is YOU NEED HELP! You Sir are beliving a LIE! The God of the old testement does not twist words like you do. Indeed Sir, you are a lost soul. I have no hate (like you keep saying) But I do have a lot of campassion for the lost and blind. You are promoting the idea " I'm OK your OK " Sorry that is NOT what the Bible says! You need to reread it. Maybe you need me to give some vers to look up? Think of what you are saying to me. And what you are telling the kid's that look here. They dont know the difference between what you show (and imply) and intercourse!
Sir YOU NEED HELP!!!!!
I will ask you once again to retrack you coments from my site.

You misunderstand my point. Jesus teaches us to love each other not hate, as it says in Proverbs 14:21 - "He who despises his neighbor is a sinner. It is through love not hatred that we may find peace in our lives and salvation in the hereafter."

It is not for us, mere men to pay judgment upon others for that is gods privilege alone, as it says in Romans 14:4 - "Who are you to pass judgment on the servant of another? It is before his own master that he stands or falls. And he will be upheld, for the Master is able to make him stand." As none of us are perfect and only God has the ability to understand each us, our personal trials and faults and judge us for our sins. As Jesus says in John 8:7 - "Let him who is without sin among you be the first to throw a stone at her."

Jesus and the bible teach us how to live and provide the rock and the foundation for living our lives, not someone else's. It is not for us to comment or judge another for that is trespassing on god's domain and like the fallen angel seeking to usurp god glory by acting in his stead. We, neither you nor I, have even a pittance of the knowledge and mercy of the lord so how could we possibly even attempt to presume that we have any ability to wield sword and judge another. That is the arrogance for which Satan was cast down, for he thought he knew better than God.

I have asked my prayer fellowship to pray for you, that you may cast out this hatred from your heart and accept the love and light of the lord that you may live in joy and harmony with your neighbors.

You so so need to get laid (in a 3some, take pictures) and proceed to fuck with the fundies a bit more.

My favorite fundie act when the sermon given during the morning commute on the train (I also get pointed out as the sinner) I answer back in latin - I always have a kick with that.

Haha oh man. What a crackpot. Where in the Bible does it ever say anything about gays? That's all modern bs made up by crazy right wingers.

From: [identity profile] plural.livejournal.com
actually the old testament is pretty clear that homosexuality (at least between two men) is verboten. Lesbianism is also discouraged but the prohibition is much less clear.

Teah, and paul's letters to the Roman's is pretty clear as well... However, most reformed biblical scholars think he was refering more the Roman soldier's sport of raping boys than consentual sex between men...

Why is that Christian fundamentalists often seem to be bad spellers, poor speakers, etc?

My apologies. I "retrack" that comment.

The problem with these people is they think Jesus is God. That being said, they also have no clue about anything Jesus (their "God") actually said or taught, so therefore, arguments with them are quite circular and rarely productive. And by rarely, I mean never.

The problem with these people is they think Jesus is God.

By these people, do you mean Christians? That idea is sort the foundation of two parts of the holy trinty that consitutes Christian faith there, bubba.

I think what you are trying to say is FUNDAMENTALIST Christians believe not ONLY that Jesus is God, but that his words are have been unerringly communicated via the bible, and are timeless in the sense that they never can lack context.

Bubba?

And no. That's not what I am trying to say. Although that point is a pretty good one as well.

Date: 2005-01-13 11:29 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] budhaboy.livejournal.com
Well, if you aren't making the distinction between FUNDAMENTALIST Christian, and a garden variety Christian, you're an ignorant moron.

In case you hadn't heard, ALL Christians believe that Jesus is God... It's right up there with that whole resurection thing as part of their faith.

Not all Christians, however believe in the unerrant word of scriptures... In fact there is a group of Protestant Christians who were part of the Reformation that believe (umong other things) EXACTLY the point of view Mr. P put forth in that last letter... This is likely because he got it from a conversation with my wife who happens to be a Presbyterian Minister.

From: [identity profile] campbellconey.livejournal.com
Is there a reason why you resort so quickly to name calling?

Q: At what point did I state that I do not distinguish between Fundamentalist Christianity and mainstream Christendom?

A: I did not. I stated that the point you insisted I was making was not, in fact, the point I was making. Your point, that F.C.s believe Christ is the incarnate of God, and also believe in a literal interpretation of whatever Bible they thump, is a good point, and it is one with which I absolutely agree. It just did not happen to be the subject on which I was writing. That does not neccessarily indicate that I disagree with it. For example, I was also not currently speaking of the obvious fact that Derek Jeter is the single greatest gift to baseball, but my failure to include that unrelated point in my conversation does not mean I don't believe it.

Q: Do all Christian religions believe in the trinity, as you've stated?
A: No. That is simply not true. I can put it no other way. Latter Day Saints (Mormons), Jehovah's Witnesses, Christian Scientists, Liberal Quakers and some Unitarians (although not technically 'Christian') are among that number.

Q: What point was</> I trying to make?

A: Mr. P made a clear distinction when asked what God did he believe in. He said, "I serve the god of the old testament, the god of Abraham, Isaac and the god of Jesus." I read this as a subtle and clever way to indicate a God who is not, in fact, Jesus Christ, without identifying his own religous beliefs by name. You may find that in addition to the religions listed above, ahdherents of Judaism also do not believe that Jesus is God. My original comment was meant to indicate that this subtle turn of phrase would be quite lost on this individual, who would believe of course that Jesus is God, and thus not sense the import of the words, I serve the God of the Old Testament.

And finally-- I both enjoyed and appreciated the point he, with your wife's assistance, argued, as well as the additional points you've highlighted. That being said, I'm not exactly certain why the last paragraph of your recent comment is penned in such a pronounced 'so shut the f-ck up' tone, but it's decidedly irritating.

I saw this thanks to the "post of the day" award given to you by [livejournal.com profile] silentounce. I have also added you as a friend. I hope you don't mind.

Having been raised a Christian and still considering myself to have a real faith based in ACTUAL scriptural teachings, your responses had me rolling. Well said! Seriously. This guy/gal is a disgrace to the Christians that are actually out there endeavoring to follow Christ's teaching, which as you so beautifully put, are supposed to be all about love. Despite the obvious sarcasm and sticky-sweet tone of your responses, you spoke wonderfully.

Thank you thank you thank you for putting this douchebag in his place.

BTW, what does your prayer fellowship think about the three-way make-out picture? ;)

*grin*

welcome to my insanity

I was very careful in my phrasing to avoid disclosing the fact that I am actually not christian, (I am jewish, and if you look carefully you can see where I delicately avoid referring to jesus as god) however for the purposes of this discussion I wanted to address it from a new testament point of view so we were speaking the same language (i.e. when in rome). I felt it was important to focus my arguements on the ethos of his faith (christianity) rather than allow my jewishness to distract the discussion

As for my prayer fellowship, well, I was reaching a little bit with that comment as my prayer fellowship includes only myself *grin* and to answer your question directly, they think it was rather immature and stupid but still a whole lot of fun.

Did you point out that a great deal of Christian art is extremely graphically violent (ex. Jesus, Saint Sebastian) and they put it right in their churches?
