since I've started school I've been rather confused by the grading system in place here

I have recieved exams back where the professor wrote
16/20 (or 80%) and next to that the letter grade of A-

now in my experience
[aka in American schools]
an 80% is a B likely a B-

but I was content enough with that
and far more concerned with getting my other work done
so I never bothered to look into it

but today I was looking into graduation requirements
in order to get an idea of what I need to plan going forward
and came accross the follow grade equivelency chart
which explained it more clearly

Equivalency Key (Numbers to Letters) For the benefit of those receiving institutions who prefer letter grades, the following equivalencies key may be used:

90 - 100 = A+
85 - 89 = A
80 - 84 = A-
70 - 79 = B
60 - 69 = C
50 - 59 = D
0 - 49 = F

not to mention given my graded work thus far
means that an A average in my classes is not remotely out of the question

it also means I pulled an A+ on my french class
rather than the A-
I had assumed a 91% was equal too

so
yeah
go me

eh in their defense

I've rarely seen anyone recieve more than low 90s on an assignment
i.e. they seem to mark a bit harder than in the states
