Poor Kitty Kitty

[plural]

been bad about updating

but a lots been happening
and time has been short

not to mention intermittent power loss
over the last couple of days thanks to Ivan
[100 mile+ winds been fucking everything up]

but this post isnt about that

its about my Isabel
who has been having a rough time lately

you see
some bad boy done knocked her up
and
the way I found this out
was when she started to miscarry

so she and I spent the evening birthing her foeti
and she didnt even complain about
the two baths I had to give her

took her to the vet for a followup check out
and she had a fever and possibly another bebe in the uterus

the vet was worried she might go septic [or already be]
so he kept her over night and got her started on antibiotics
and if the fever broke he was going to spay her in the morning
[spaying her was my original plan anyway]

so all went well and she got spayed
and has been home recovering for a few days

I have to give her an antibiotic twice a day
and
much to my amazement
and I am sure the other cats owners reading this
will also be amazed

she is a champ

I just open her mouth
pop the pill in
she chomps twice and swallows it

thats it

no trips to the emergency room for me
or anything

never seen the like
[not that I am complaining mind you]

anyway
she is curled up on my lap
and doing much better

yeah it was a rough night
stayed up till three am

never expected kitty midwife
to be in the job description

but thats life

you just do what you have to do

luckily I am the sort that only gets squeemish when I think back on it, during the process it is just what has to be done

I can't believe you let your baby get knocked up at such a tender age! Obviously she was immune to your chat about "the birds and the bees." :( Ah, teenagers.
