Public Service Announcement

Irony

Pop Stars and other forms of village idiots often abuse this word

common mistakes are to label as Ironic, things which are merely unfortunate or coincidental

so I thought I would provide this helpful public service announcement
to which you can refer any idiots who need this particular brand of enlightenment.

*grins*

you have my unending adulation

I assure you

[identity profile] maffewk.livejournal.com 2004-08-09 01:08 pm (UTC)(link)
How the hell do you decide which words to capitalize in your ramblings anyway?

[identity profile] plural.livejournal.com 2004-08-09 01:11 pm (UTC)(link)
oh I have a complex algorythm which is specifically designed
to insert line breaks and capital letters
at the precise points most likely
to drive other people nuts
without seeming intentional

and

I was lazy and just c&p the center section
which came out kinda funky

[identity profile] moderndayknight.livejournal.com 2004-08-09 01:15 pm (UTC)(link)
That you are trying to educate me is truly ironic.

[identity profile] plural.livejournal.com 2004-08-09 01:17 pm (UTC)(link)
it is amply apparent this entry wasnt meant for you

seeing as you cant read there would be little point

"to which you can refer any idiots who need this particular brand of enlightenment."

I really think this PSA should be aired...maybe we can get Britney Spears to act in it.

So far, I count two ironies...

[identity profile] plural.livejournal.com 2004-08-09 01:35 pm (UTC)(link)
mmm that would be good

but I think

it has to be alanis

afterall

much of this is her fault

[identity profile] sickboy.livejournal.com 2004-08-09 02:16 pm (UTC)(link)
That's the one that always sticks out to me. Yeah, rain on your wedding day... how ironic.

How about you took song writing classes to help improve your ability and suddenly people stopped buying your records?

[identity profile] chaudfeu.livejournal.com 2004-08-09 02:45 pm (UTC)(link)
Or alanis morisette for christs sake.

[identity profile] budhaboy.livejournal.com 2004-08-09 01:59 pm (UTC)(link)
this is all about me, isn't it.

[identity profile] plural.livejournal.com 2004-08-09 02:02 pm (UTC)(link)
now that would be ironic

[identity profile] thesheryl.livejournal.com 2004-08-09 02:25 pm (UTC)(link)
That's weird; I just posted a new word I discovered today and then went on to read this post. Synchronicity.

[identity profile] girl-on-a-stick.livejournal.com 2004-08-09 02:54 pm (UTC)(link)
While I agree, I do take issues with posts quaotes dictionary.com. Didn't we learn anything from [livejournal.com profile] debate? :P

[identity profile] atillathehung.livejournal.com 2004-08-09 03:01 pm (UTC)(link)
Thank you!

Now that you've ably handled irony, I will launch my quest to get music critics to stop using the word "seminal" every third paragraph.

[identity profile] plural.livejournal.com 2004-08-09 03:03 pm (UTC)(link)
good luck there

those no talent hacks
amazingly enough
know more about writing than music
