[livejournal.com profile] mourningstarr went straight for the jugular and managed to ask the one question which I am unwilling to answer. [what is my name]

[livejournal.com profile] ludimagist a lead brick, it doesn't do much as a cure, but it sure makes me feel better. Generally when I encounter any form of anti-semitism, (intelligent or otherwise) I approach it the same, with gentle probing questions. This quickly lets me determine if the individual is anti-Semitic through ignorance of Jews or from an underlying hatred. The latter I fear is incurable in most cases, and at least on my part, I choose not to waste my time with them. The former can still be a pain in the ass but I have found that the best approach is simply education. When I was in North Carolina, I encountered some anti-semitism of this latter variety, and a great amount of general ignorance (much of it unflattering) about Jews. By simply being patient and then walking the walk, I was able to effectively counter most of this. I made a point of being available to even the most trivial question and by over explaining my actions when religion was involved. I am no expert on the subject but the results I saw were quite hopeful.

[livejournal.com profile] lima_pcp is a complete bastard, and so I will respond in kind, the answer to your question is 42.
[if you were looking for a personal answer to that question, as opposed to the more general, let me know and I will do my best]

[livejournal.com profile] hellarad Quite simply my dear, because I could, but do not mistake it as being cruel, because I can assure you, it held no malice whatsoever. I suppose when it comes down it, it was far more a question of failing to deal with my own internal issues than anything else. I am sorry that it caused you pain.

[livejournal.com profile] princezna Tough Question - I do not know if I really have a favorite, I use hot curry powder quite frequently, and it is probably one of those I think to reach for first, but technically it is a collection of spices rather than a single one. Recently I have started using soy sauce in nearly everything (although in trace amounts) and I suppose it would be my secret weapon of choice. Soy sauce seems to really bring out the natural flavors in a dish quite nicely, even though in the amounts I use you can not even tell it is there. In a sauce for example, I use about 1/2 a teaspoon per cup of sauce that I am making.

[livejournal.com profile] ignote It depends how you define lived.

To the best of my recollection I have lived in:
[alphabetically of course]

Atlanta, GA **
Ava, MO #
Boston, MA **
+Durango, CO #
Greensboro, NC ***
Jackson, MS #
+Jerusalem, Israel #
Kansas City, MO ***
+Martha's Vineyard, MA #
+New York, NY **
Rome, Italy **
Sammamish, WA **
+Santiago, Chile **
Sao Paulo, Brazil *
+Seattle, WA #
Stockbridge, MA **
Sydney, Nova Scotia ***
Vashon, WA*

# denotes places where I have spent at least one year of my life (may be cumulative)
*** denotes place I have lived for more than six but less than nine months
** denotes places I have lived for more than three but less than six months
* denotes places I have lived for more than one but less than six months
+ denotes places where I have lived more than once

I have defined living as anyplace where I have resided for an extended period of time while I had no other residence and where I was not acting as a tourist. [for example I have spent significant amounts of time in Tel Aviv, Copenhagen and London, but either exclusively as a tourist or having another primary residence, so I did not count them] The more normal definition of "living" someplace which comes to mind would be "intent to settle" which I have never had. Every place I have ever lived (since high school anyway) was under the assumption that it was a temporary situation, the question was not would I move away, but when.

seeing as we share the same chosen profession

of just what sort of dedication and perseverance
it requires to be a sucessful drunk
