The Perfect Man
Jan. 9th, 2004 08:07 pmbefore I begin
I want each of you
to pause
take a deep breath
and gaze upon your god
take this moment to reflect
on all the little beautiful things in your life
all the trivial shit that could be going wrong
but isnt
all those things which just work
without you ever realizing it
and be thankful
*soft smile*
good
now let me commence
marvelous
tonight for dinner
I prepared
julienned strips of chicken
served on a bed of pasta
draped with a pesto cream sauce
and accompanied by
stuffed tomatos
finish it off
with a naught naught bottle of
australian semillion chardonay
which I dug out of my wine cellar
and
it is perfection
a perfection quite suited
for myself
the perfect man
if half the men in this world
were half the man I am
there would be no unsatisfied women
I was thinking today
about the arts
specifically about taking up violin again
I was quite the prodigy at one time
but around six years old maybe seven
I gave it up
it occurred to me
that while I have various artistic endeavors
from photography to painting to cooking
there is one which is my primary art
that which I succeed above all else
that art is life
my life is my art
perhaps it is more fleeting
and more temporal than a sculpture
but in the living tapestry
of humanity and experience
that I may weave
no less beautiful
perhaps in a way even more so
art is designed to capture
the moments of the human experience
to universalize and communicate them
with others
my art is the human experience
and my task is to share that
to touch lives and people
the only question is
am I successful
and
in my esteem-able arrogance
I do believe that I am
but
what do you think?
