had a little party
at my place tonight

just intimate friends
and some fine honeys

apparently one of the neighbors
called the cops about the music
being too loud
[it wasn't]
[just a mellow undertone]

so this cop bangs on my door
and I step outside to deal with it

we are talking
and he claims he can hear
the bass from there
which is complete bullshit

and I say so
he cops an attitude
and asks me if I am either deaf or stupid

which was the wrong move
I explain to him
that I am being entirely civil
and will not tolerate an attitude on his part

my dear friend Dave
[who happens to be the chief of police]
rolls out the door
to see if there is a problem


I just smile
and say nope
it is all good

this kind officer was just leaving
he smiles
and says
"that is a good thing
because I am having a good time
and
I would be very disappointed
if there was a problem"

a soft smile
and
gentle wink

and I walked back inside
to make another drink

Bass doesn't have to be loud for it to travel through walls. It's a frequency thing, not a volume thing.

oh I understand that
and
I was not saying that the neighbors might not have been able to hear it
[although they are loud as hell anyway]
[and since I dont complain about their]
[constant barrage of noise]
[I have little sympathy for their complaints]

but the fact was
standing outside my apartment
you could not hear the slightest sound
coming from my apartment
so the cop was entirely full of shit
in saying that he could

but such things are really not a problem
when you have friends like mine
