A Public Service Announcement
Oct. 25th, 2003 03:06 amGuys get a pair of balls and use them
sure you may never be this guy
but at the very least you could at least try to pretend to be a man
I am entirely sick of seeing and hearing about men who are entirely pussywhipped
take this guy for example
not only did he let his wife spend an obscene amount of money buying freaking beanie babies
but he even let her drag him along to the store
then he acts pissed that she cheated on him
well no shit sherlock
maybe if you had been a man
and had some fucking balls
she wouldnt have needed to find a pair elsewhere
Those of you who know me well
know that I am something of a romantic
and beyond that a pretty big fan of spoiling my women
but a thousand beanie babies
you're fucking nuts
I wouldnt let a woman bring
a thousand beanie babies in my house
let alone buy the fucking things
and that counts for all other that kitchy shit too
little porclain shoes
whatever
now I have thought about this for a while
wondering what specifically guys do wrong in relationships
that allows women to walk all over them
and one area that occured to me
is negotiation
as a general rule
guys let women set the starting points for negotiation in most arguments
and of course then proceed to lose
in a negotiation who ever sets the stage
determines the terms
and usually wins
let me give you an example from my own life
many years ago
while discussing the possibility of the girl I was dating moving in with me
she mentioned offhand
"how nice it would be to have her car in a garage again"
now I am a man
the garage is my space
[unless she is like
girl_on_a_stick]
[in which case I could share]
it is a place for my motorcycle
[and its related tools and stuff]
and my servers
generally a work area for me
and my stuff that I dont want in the house
so what did I do?
did I wait till she moved in and hope
I could convince her to be generous
and let me keep the garage to myself?
nope
what am I nuts
I know that is a lose/lose situation
instead
when she came over with her first box
she found my motorcycle in the living room
which prompted the expected
"umm what is that doing there"
to which I replied nonchalantly
"oh thats where it lives, I just put it in the garage when I am entertaining or working on it"
a rather dumbfounded look crossed her face
and I could see the objection swelling in her mind
a thought balloon appeared over her head
"a motorcycle in the living room, I dont think so"
like any woman this just could not stand
so we talked about it
and when we were finished
she was so glad to get it out of the living room
that she had no complaints about giving up the entire garage
for me and my stuff
Flawless Victory Baby!
I got to keep my garage and I got laid that night
It is good to be the king
so guys
remember two things
first plan ahead
anticipate her objections to what you want
and position yourself so you can appear to compromise
and still get what you want out of the situation
and second
be a fucking man, stand up for yourself
and a minimum of common fucking sense in your relationships
she might get pissed
but if you dont act like a pussy whipped bitch all time
she might just respect you
and
generally if she respects you
she will be fucking you
not some other guy

Date: 2003-10-25 12:04 am (UTC)Funny though. I generally tend to be the one who doesn't care and lets things go as such. Don't know if that's typical? Hmm. Either way, I think there's lessons to learn from that which I mentioned in the first paragraph. Lessons which I will ponder when not slightly inebriated.

Date: 2003-10-25 07:36 am (UTC)I was so disappointed in myself that I didn't even bother to date until I got back to the old hard ass I used to be
yeah, I'm able to compromise but I'll never be a pushover again that's for sure

Date: 2003-10-25 08:15 am (UTC)you are right for the most part too
a lot of guys who i dated were really nice but didn't have any balls and let me walk all over them when i was younger... doing every stupid thing i would say or ask for and didn't mean even, just suggested out of boredom. i wasn't even testing them, a lot of those things were passing whims ... but their over-devotion becomes scary and makes you feel like the balance is uneven in the relationship.
but i want to be with a man. someone who could possibly "put me in my place" but chooses not to because he respects me -- and himself enough to not just go along with everything anyone wants to do regardless of how he feels. of course, the respect thing has to work both ways. i know just as many chicks who let themselves get pushed around and convinced to do things they're not happy about. i suppose a lot of us have fallen to both extremes at some point during our lives and HOPEFULLY learned from it.
the balance has to be even, both people need to know that either one could walk away or do something really crazy or cruel to the other at any moment's notice -- but consciously chooses not to out of respect, affection, caring, friendship, and maybe love.
