I need a good public/private key encryption brute force tool to crack WindowsXP EFS,
cause dumb ass me forgot to decrypt a some of my files before formatting the harddrive.
[I did most of them but forgot a few in a remote subdirectory]

If you know of anything that might work
please give me a heads up

Thanks

Can you program? Do you know how to write a program that performs the sieve of Aristonstenes(sp?)? Do you know the general idea behind using large hard-to-factor numbers as a key?

Also, there may be easier ways to hack the pw. If there is a simplified set of characters (checksum) that makes several passwords work for each possible password then your problem is much easier. I found out earlier this year that 11 of the first 12 (I think it was 11 of 12, maybe 13 of 14) of the characters in the password of an excel spreadsheet are recorded in binary using only 'A' and 'B'. This makes it easy to write a routine that tests all possibilities in a relatively short amount of time.

Truthfully, I know more about the theory than actual hacking because I'm not an expert programmer, but my theory has been enough to help those on the programming side get around a few problems including unlocking office email and spreadsheets.
