everything is pretty much lined up for my trip
I had to go buy a new garment bag for my tux cause my last one seems to have disappeared
found a great Kenneth Cole bag, its black of course and very small
so I wont have a problem taking in on the plane with me
[checking luggage is a nightmare]

got about an hour till I leave for my flight
NYC via Atlanta ain't that a beaut.
it takes me four hours and twenty minutes to get there
and an hour and a half to get back
[I fly back direct]

the truly disturbing thing
the car from the airport to the hotel where the wedding is and back
is going to cost me more than the plane ticket

there is just something wrong about that
but then again when you fly in at midnight
you do not have many other options

ah well, I bring my old friend bourbon along
and we'll get through it just fine

oh yes that reminds me
I stopped at a bookstore today
[I need to stop doing that]
bought a bunch of books
it was a good thing never seem to have enough
reading material around
[since I devoured my last two books in record time]
[Baudolino by Umberto Eco and Prey by Michael Crichton]

so now I am all packed up and ready to go
I adore my new luggage, everything fits into
neat little compartments with straps and buckles
to keep it all organized, it even comes with a little toiletry kit
that clips inside the bag

packing for me consists of the following

in the garment bag.

tuxedo, vest, ascot, and mirror-shined shoes
cufflinks, studs, and suspenders
formal 3/4 length top coat
three dress shirts and two pairs of khakis
three pair boxers and three pair socks
three white tshirts, one sans pocket
one pair pjs, coordinated tee and bathrobe
one bottle each of
bourbon
chardonay
mas plagniol [delightful red wine]
blanc de blancs [a wonderful bubbly]
a sommelier's tool
toiletries and hairbrush

in my handbag.

silver bourbon flask
cellular phone
palm pilot
travel pillow
cigarettes
romeo e julietta churchill cigar [cuban of course]
[you cant have a proper wedding without a good cigar]
three new books by Dean Koontz, Ken Follett, and John Sanford respectively
[hard bound of course, I despise paperbacks]
[am not familiar with the latter but he comes highly recommended]
[I needed something in a hurry]
one roll of duct tape and a tape measure
[don't ask its a long standing family tradition]
cellular charger
digital camera plus related equipment
three pens and a notepad
one speech/toast exactly ninety seconds in length
two bottles of water and assorted munchies

what is conspicuously absent however
is my nail clippers
which are staring at me from my desk
pleading to come along
but I know the good for nothing fools
they call security will just take them away
what a joke and to think I thought GeDubya didn't have a sense of humour

well laddies and ladies
my cat is fed, the thermostat is turned down
the doors are locked and the house is clean
[I despise coming home to a messy house]
[so I always clean before taking a trip]
so I suppose I should be getting off then

be well, have a fabulous weekend
and I shall be home Monday
hopefully with my vows intact

arrivederci i miei amori

well I adored Baudolino
probably my favourite since in the name of the rose
but
all of his work recieves high reviews from me
including his non-fiction if thats something that interests you, his collection of essays on semiotics entitled "Kant and the Platypus" were exquisite, I highly recommend it as well
