pluralMy car was accidentally stolen this morning
I suppose this statistically has to happen every so often
and of course, if its going to happen, it will happen to me...
About 10 minutes ago
my doorbell rang
this may not seem like a strange occurrence
but you have to realize
that since I have moved into this house
it has rang maybe 4 times
my friends knock
strangers ring the bell
so being that I was lounging as I usually do
mostly naked around my house
I threw on my robe and went to the door
a man was standing there
he was a working class man
but clean and presentable
but definitely no-one I knew
We exchanged good mornings
and he was acting slightly bashful
I was expecting a solicitation of some sort
but the first words out of his mouth
where
"I stole your car for about an hour"
I was perplexed as you might imagine
then he proceeded to tell me the story
apparently, he had been asked to pick up his sisters car
a similar Honda civic to mine
he came down, walked up to the first car matching
the description he was given "old Honda civic"
unlocked it, started it and drove away
he reached his destination
and his sister
who promptly informed him
that is was not her car..
Nice enough fellow
even put 5 bucks in the gas tank
prolly should get the locks changed eh?

but I suppose they didnt figure
that there would be many of them
in one cul-de-sac
Actually it a problem with any car
there are only a certain number of key combinations they can produce
so there are probably over a hundred people with identical keys. To help mitigate this problem
they track matching combinations and try to ship them to different geographical locations or countries. I have actually unlocked and gotten in someone elses vehicle in the past (not a civic) and just kinda froze... wait.... this doesnt look right, hmm, oh thats why it isnt my car
