Was walking in my kitchen
letting thoughts slide through my head
when I recalled

and extraordinary act of kindness once done to me
in is extraordinary on several levels
but primarily because the person who did this
really didn't like me very much - that's probably an understatement

I hope I have learned from his example

when I was in Israel
I fell madly in lust
physical, emotional, and intellectual lust
with a beautiful woman

unfortunately
she was unable to accompany me on my travels
and I rightfully felt that I probably wouldn't have
such an opportunity again
so I went alone

well I had a calling card
and not the slightest clue
about long distance charges
apparently
in three months
I ran up
an eight thousand dollar
phone bill

Of course it gets worse
after the first month
they canceled the calling card
because of an unusual calling pattern
but for some reason
it still worked
why I have still never found out
probably due to the antiquated phone systems
I was using

it got turned over
to the fraud department
at this phone company

this person
who as I said before
greatly disliked me
made the file disappear
a risk of not only his job
but possibly more serious punishment

I returned home
saw the phone bills
freaked out
called the phone company
and they said
they had no record of any such charges

I was mystified
but quite relieved

a couple of years later
in mentioning the story
to one of my friends
she told me the story

apparently when he got the file
and recognized my name
he e-mailed her
asking if it was indeed me
and what the deal was
as he knew we were close friends

She explained that I was travelling
and those were most likely phone calls made by me
and told him about the young lady in Israel

he replied

"don't worry I will take care of it."

and he did

I have not talked with him
since before I left for Israel
I haven't a clue how to get ahold of him
or why he did this

but I am thankful
