a lesson in humility or an essay on the evil character of jump ropes

I have a confession
I have lived my life in shame and denial
taking grave steps
to avoid this but it is now time
for a reckoning
I must face it, find the strength

I am completely inept
with a jump rope

I think I am just missing the gene for it

I have added jumping rope
to my exercise routine
good cardio workout
there is only one problem

I cant jump rope
no
I am not just bad at it
I fail completely

At least with a hula hoop
I can get a few spins
before crashing to the earth

I can't get a single jump
without cheating

actually
today
after much effort
I think
I may have gotten
three whole loops

without
crashing to the ground
legs entwined or
unwinding myself
from its strangling grasp

My cats
delightful creatures of the devil
that they are
watched with much amusement
