Took the Canadian Ski Patrol tests today
scored a 91% on the written
which judging by the other patrollers reaction
is fairly impressive
then took the practicals
which are always a joy
originally had planned to go home after the tests
but one of the patrollers on duty was having trouble
with her knee so I went ahead and suited up
for the afternoon
my first call was for an eight year old
who slipped on the bunny hill
and just barely sliced his index finger
on the edge of his snowboard
took him back to the hut
applied a band aid
and filled out the paperwork
he was a sweet lil guy
ran a few patrols
talked with some of the snowboarders in the terrain park
then did the closing sweep
I'll be filling in and providing extra coverage
for the next couple of days
until my registration is official
then we'll work out my schedule
I was asked by one of the patrollers today
what I thought of the canadian ski patrol
compared to the american
and I replied
well, I've been a canadian ski patroller for about twenty minutes now
so I cant really say although it seems pretty much the same
of course
the american uniforms are much cooler
[the US Ski Patrol wears red jackets]
[with a white cross on the back]
[and black ski pants]
[where the canadians have a blue and yellow theme]
all in all a good day
but I'm exhausted
so I think I'm going to take a shower
and call it an early night
