tonight I welcome a newborn child

his name is Kyle

and it is my fault

it is weird to be reminded
that your life has echos and ripples
in the real world

often we just amble along
not really aware of how existence
streches out and affects things

The child in question
was born to two friends of mine
years ago
in a galaxy far far away
I pretty much divided my time
between the two of them
but
never did anything with both of them
together

well
at one point
I decided to introduce them
and
lightning struck

they have been happily married
for a few years now

one of the few truely happily married couples I know

and Kyle is their first child

my friend just called me from the hospital
to let me know all is well

the mother is recovering "admirably"
I believe was the word he used
