and why apathy?

it is what the people want
to be apathetic
and so we give it to them

in politics

the right mix of scandal pages and fog machine politics
to let them dismiss it all as
same shift different day
incomprehensible & unchangable
so why worry about it

people want security
apathy is security
if you do not care
your emotions are not at risk
being jaded is a form of cowardly behavior

and of course
there is responsibility

if this country was truely a democracy
or even the republic that it claims to be
people would be responsible for government
and all its failings

which would also require you to be responsible
for your own lives and all it failings

it is easy to blame the government
for fucking up the economy
and claiming that is why you do not have a job
a lot easier than acknowledging that you were among the worst at your job
which is why some of your coworkers still have jobs
or that you made a poor choice when choosing your company

but you cant blame the government
if you are responsible for it

we provide a valuable service to the people
that they need even if they are not emotionally willing to admit it

it really comes down to personal responsibility
something I have ranted on before

you and I mean every single one of you
have to make a choice
either be responsible for your lives
and all the good and the bad that happen
and quit blaming other people and entities
or
accept that you will be treated
like the children you are

the people in power
are not accountable to you

go fuck yourself
why the hell should they be

even a strict constitutionalist like myself
fails to see how it binds them to you

additionally let me bitchslap the first couple of you
who will pipe up and say because I pay taxes

taxes are like your cable bill
you pay them for services recieved
police, fire, and various other things
[there is even an entertainment analogy]
[but most of you probably dont see that]

yeah you get screwed on your taxes
but you get screwed on your cable bill too
and I dont here you bitching so much about that

how much is your cable company truely accountable to you?
not much
they have to make sure your cable TV
works most of the time
and thats about it

who they are accountable to is their investors
the people who stand up and put shit on the line
to accomplish something

paying your cable bill gives you the right to bitch
when you cable is screwed up and thats it
but not to complain if the CEO has a mistress
or even choose the CEO

why do people think government should be any different

to go back to my point about the constitution
it was drafted with the idea of preserving basic rights
and to make sure that landowners i.e. investors
not John Q Public, had a say in government

I am tired of all the bitching
the whining
the talk of corruption

when you are uninvolved
uninvested

how many of you can name your senators and congressman?
how many of you have any idea of how they voted on any issue recently?

no dont tell me, just answer the questions for yourself
and if you are going to lie to yourself about it
spare me your dribble as well

that there are only maybe three or four people

that I will believe if they told me they did
[and to be completely honest]
[I am not even one of them]

which brings me to another point

I am sick and tired of people bitching about
dishonest this, dishonest that

people
you lie to yourselves every damn day
and the lies you tell yourself
are more harmful to you
than any someone else could tell you

and more than that
you are not even really pissed about the lies
you are angry at the betrayals
lying is just a convienent charge
to pile on top
because we are all continuously guilty of it

a little lie

a medium sized lie
I am sorry I stuck my dick in your sister

a big ass whale of a lie
I am not in a sexual relationship with that woman

the lying is irrelevant to the situation
it just makes it harder to determine how pissed you should be

let me make this a little bit clearer for you
a simple guide to ignoring lies

if you think your ass looks fat in those jeans
it probably does

if you think he is sorry for fucking your sister
he is am probably not

if you think he is fucking some chick
he probably is

and with the last one
the truth is irrelevant
sure it seems relevant but you are just fooling yourself

the problem is not the truth but trust
if you suspect that your partner is fucking someone else
then it is as good as if they are
because that trust is gone
and chances are
there are some serious problems in your relationship
which have undermined your trust
to the degree that you can think such thoughts

if you are getting all the love and attention
you need from your partner
and therefore feel secure in your relationship
chances are unless you find a used rubber
in the back seat of their car
it will never occur to you that they might be cheating

so back to government

you dont trust it and you shouldnt

most of you have a dead end relationship with government
hell if you were dating your government
you would have given up long ago
and the relatioship would be just another anecdote
on how fucked up life can be

but unfortunately just like your damn cable company
you do not have much of a choice
you might think you do
you can choose democrat or republican
but
guess what
they are the same party
serving the same masters
and
your name is not on
the invited list
for that particular party

you want a real clue in
for how much you matter to government
call the white house
call your senators and congressmen
ask for an appointment to meet with them in person

how many of you can even get five minutes
let alone be invited to spend the night in the lincoln bedroom

then the question is why

why can you not get the time
or in beltway parlance
"the access"

because you havent invested in the company
or if you have invested it hasnt been much

if you own one share of a company
chances are you wont get access to the CEO
if you own a hundred thousand shares
he will fly out to meet you in his personal jet
[obviously this is a simplification]

how do you get access
well it is by investing yourself in the process

for some people this is simply a matter of money
for other people it is time

I had a wonderful conversation
with a beautiful and intelligent blonde
the other night
[not my date]
[but still someone who incidently]
[I would love to roll in the sack with]

and she was telling me about her father
her family is big in the democratic machine
president clinton has been to their house
that sort of big

how did they get the access
because her father devoted himself to working in
the political machines

his investment of sweat
earned him access

I have never met the man
have not heard more than ten minutes of talk
[ok maybe twenty]
about him

and frankly I respect him more
than 99% of the people I have met

I have come to realize
that
the only real dislike
I have of greensboro

is not being able to find
quality vendors

it is actually easier for me
to do business with my vendors
in seattle and have them ship stuff to me
because I know I can trust them

on the other hand
I have never been much of a patient person
so
it would be optimal to find local vendors
for my various needs

the top of my list right now
for things I need to find

A mechanic I trust to work on my Bettie

A mechanic I trust to work on my car

A computer dealer who both knows his ass from a hole in the wall, and carries a decent inventory
[if they have to order it, I might as well buy it from my guys in seattle instead]

A high end vintner
