seven days and seven nights in Lima

all i do
around here is gamble
[which isn't true]
[i often pander to attractive females as well]

i figured it was time for a post
on another topic

so far in Peru
i have done the following

Gone to the beach for a weekend of parties

Had dinner on two occasions with a delightful woman

Went bowling

Visited the Italian museum of art

Visited the Gold museum of Incan Artifacts

Gambled

Been on Peruvian TV
[it was a walk on role with no lines]
[aka i happened to walk by a camera]
[filming something at the justice center]
[but it greatly amused the friend of mine who told me about it]

Visited the National Center for Justice
[rather comic when you think of old fujimori]

Took a half day bus tour of Lima

oh and on the other subject
i relaxed and played some low stakes
poker tonight
went in with a hundy
came out with one-twenty
which i was informed
by
a reasonably attractive waitress
was the going rate for
services

however i figured
the hidden medical costs
of treating whatever
sexual transmitted diseases one
acquires from cheap south american prostitutes
to most likely exceed my current budget
for random amusement

and yes
another insipid quiz

i met
a pink rabbit once
or rather
i could have if i hadn't been rather terrified
at the particular moment
or under the rampant belief
that i was hallucinating

you see not only was he a pink rabbit

he was six feet tall
and standing in the doorway
of my room at boarding school

my roommate unfortunately fast asleep
and i
unsure if the beating
bashing
smashing stick
i kept by my bedside
to ward off fellow students
who might have a mischievous impulse

would do much good
against
a six foot tall pink bunny rabbit
let alone an imaginary one

so instead i lay there
frozen with fear and confusion
letting my eyes remain
every so slightly open
to avoid detection

the monster in question
hopped around behind the head of my bed
and
i was sure i was done for
kaput
finis

the dilemma i faced was
do i turn my head
to hope for some warning
should this vorpal bunny
attempt to cleave me in two?

to do so would
give away my feigned sleep
and
perhaps even provoke this monster
not to do so would mean
a brutal unexpected death

which given the circumstances
wasn't sounding all that bad
after all what good can come
from a visit from a six foot tall pink bunny rabbit

unfortunately my decision
was rendered moot
when the creature
hopped back around past my bed
and icily sweating palms
out the door
and into the night

swearing off drugs
for ever
especially hallucinogenics
[not that i had taken any recently]
i decided that
the whole event was

imaginary

didn't happen

i didn't see shit

just keep it between you me and the wall

the next morning
i awoke
to find a little stack
of chocolate candy eggs
on my desk
behind my bed

the morale of the story
