People are going further and further to get their jollies and quite frankly I don't think it will be long before we see bloodsport.
What am I rambling about this time?
I went to see a movie tonight, no this isn't going to be a Hollywood media rant..
I saw Xmen, it was good and sucked at the same time, but all in all about what I needed for the evening.
anyway, in the lobby of the theater, there is a usual assortment of video games.
tonight I saw something new...
It is an Adam's Family themed game, although I use the term lightly.
I saw it from a distance and its configuration puzzled me so I went for a closer look.
It had a series of lights going up each side, and at the top was uncle fester with a light bulb in his mouth.
There were no controls to speak of, no real action to the game.
Two metal handles and a three difficulty setting buttons were all there was.
As I looked over this strange contraption, I discovered it purpose.
Apparently, the idea was that an individual would grab a hold of the two metal handles.
The game would then subject said individual to ever increasing amounts of electric shock.
The object for the contestant being to hold on all the way to 3,000 volts
at which point the light bulb would light, and they would be declared the victor.
On the way into the movie,
when I spotted this,
I was amused,
but apparently gave to much credit to my fellow human beings in
assuming it would not be a long lasting entrant to the arcade world.
My dear friends, I was sorely mistaken.
After the movie
I was waiting for my companion to use the facilities
(women always do take forever)
I got to observe a group of youngsters
playing, if such a word can be used, this game.
At which point I realized the overall brilliance of such a device.
People pay you a dollar, to shock them.
I can not wait to see this trend develop.
