First of all, The concept of robber baron is dated... It is simply obvious that there are distinct classes institutionalized in our society...

In our current society, the elite promotes their agendas and earn their money not directly off the backs of exploited workers, but through the careful exploitation of the average persons greed and illogical need for instant gratification.

People place themselves into indentured servitude by abusing credit and living above their means. This puts them in a situation where a large percentage of their income is immediately re-directed to paying off old debts.

I have no "issues" with reading, however you seem to hold an illogical concept that banks are living entities, unfortunately they require individuals to actively achieve something as mundane as counting their money.

Since we "condescend" to give the peons who would do this counting the day off in a celebration of labor, that would leave it to person like myself to the chore.

Which would be distasteful and redundant.

As an organization, a bank counts its money on a daily basis, a large portion of the resources of a bank are dedicated to this simple task, it does not require a special day to be set aside to accomplish this.

In my previous comment, the second point was responding to your idea that we would cater to the masses out of some fear of revolt, which is completely irrational.

The masses love and ultimately desire to replace us. Of course the vast majority of them are worthless, mindless and pathetic.

If you truly believe in the "guilt" of the liberal wealthy, I pity you.

If one was to truly feel guilty about a life of privilege and wealth, there are very easy methods by which one could remedy these feelings.

If you feel guilty that you have never worked an honest day in your life, then get a real average American job. (as opposed to pretend job as a magazine editor ala monsieur Kennedy)

If you feel guilty that you have millions of dollars, create a charitable foundation and donate the vast majority (90%) of your assets into it.

These supposedly "bleeding heart liberals" and their intense "guilt" over the injustices which have lead to their positions of wealth and privilege, is a fiction.

Look at a persons words, then look at their actions, if both are in accordance, believe their words, where there are discrepancies, believe their actions.

Personally, while I abhor the vast majority of people that I meet, I am an elitist bastard, although my elitism is not specifically drawn along classist lines.

I also find it ludicrous and absurd that the average American thinks either the democrats or republicans are doing anything besides towing the line of the monied elite and continuing the status quo.

I am who I am, I make no apologies for it, and I am offended by people who come from a similar background of wealth and privilege, and present a facade of empathy which is not supported by action in any but the most trivial way.

Quite frankly, I believe strongly in helping people better themselves and their conditions.

Unfortunately most people would prefer to blame the man for oppressing them and thereby have an excuse, a reason beyond their control for the misery in their lives, rather than take responsibility for their lives and make the effort to change it.
