I had my first "Politics in TV & the Media Class"

in it is one of those typical
chomsky loving retards
who is incapable of thought
only regurgitating someone else drivel

anyway
after a few warm up rounds
of minor sparring we get into it

when he claims that government
[and we are talking american government even though I am in canada]
[because well everyone knows the canadian government doesnt fucking matter]

is decieving and manipulating the american population
by not allowing them access to the full information
on the bills under discussion and which are passed

I scoff and reply

"If by not allowing them access you mean by posting the complete text of every bill on the internet for anyone to see, then yes I agree, if someone doesnt read what is available to them freely, then it is their laziness not the governments deception"

to which he responded

"Well it still isnt accessible to most people because they use big words that people dont understand"

I laugh loudly

"The dictionary is my friend, make it yours, hell bring a thesaurus along as well if it will help"

he launches into some rambling spiel on ebonics and how it is a valid language and has grammatical structures etc etc, which I wish I could repeat for you because it was pretty funny but it is too long and incoherent for that

but I reply

"There are 50,000 speakers of klingon in the US, should we publish every bill in Klingon too?"
[pulled that number out of my ass but it sounded good]
[besides it was just a set up anyway]

to which he responded

"In Canada we publish everything in French and English because we do not expect someone to have to read something in their non native tongue and there are a lot more than 50,000 blacks in the US"

I smile watching him ignore the hook and gobble the bait, pausing to reel him in slightly to better set the hook

"America is a single language country, unlike Canada, and if we were to have a second language it would be Spanish, which wouldnt help your cause, besides which does Canada publish all their documents in every language spoken in Canada, no, it is unreasonable, you simply publish in the two most common languages."

and so he responded

"But thats not fair, you just cant expect them to understand the material when it is presented that way"

I grin, time to reel this fish in and respond

"You do realize you are being a complete racist...

the professor out of pity tried to step in and help the fellow out
but it was a lost cause
he was sunk and everyone knew it

Before I even got to the end of your post, I was ready to say:

"there are a lot more than 50,000 blacks in the US" ---THAT IS INCREDIBLY racist! Lemme guess...this guy doesn't actually know an African-Americans? Am I right? And what's my door prize for guessing that. ;-)

In fact-- the U.S. Government actually does print almost everything in both English and Spanish, which is our "French" if you will. But still- the official language of this nation is English, and our pbulic schools offer free ESL classes from kindergarten through high school and even in college....

The US has many many many faults, too many to enumerate, but at least they do make some effort in this arena.
