Just like heaven
Jun. 10th, 2003 09:31 pmspent the morning
lounging on cool grass
feeling the sun warm my skin
around noon
I went for a long walk through the trees
secret little paths
which lead my mind to
peace
afterwards
I decided to take some photographs
here are two of my favorites

you can find the rest Here
afterwards
I took the long way
back to my car
and began my drive home
on the way I passed
a little Italian place
I had been meaning to visit for some time now
and
surprise surprise
but seeing as I had not eaten all day
I found myself famished
I stopped in
found myself a seat in the cozy atmosphere
and glanced over the menu
to start I ordered
slices of fresh buffalo mozzarella and tomato
rolled in olive oil, spices and shreds of oregano
it was beyond divine
its soft delicate flavor collapsing on my tongue
for an entree
I requested eggplant parmigiano
which it turned out to come with a side salad
and a few slices of a nice rustic bread
I opted for the homemade house Italian dressing
which was a fairly intense and delicious
puree of vegetables and balsamic vinegar
it was a purely sumptuous experience
and a fitting end
to a decidedly pleasant and distracting day
and with that
I am off to shower and gather
myself
together for the evening
I have been informed that I have been granted
an unlimited bar tab at a local club tonight
and
I do plan on abusing it
*grin*

Date: 2003-06-11 12:13 pm (UTC)The shot of the rusty metal sculpture was my favorite, but the white hydrangeas are gorgeous. They always remind me of parchment. They have rows of them at the conservatory by the SAM this time of year. I'm sure you've been there.

of returning a favor
which I did for him
and
boy
did I ever abuse it
*grin*
it is a good thing I
do not get hangovers
or I would be in a world of hurt
about now

Date: 2003-06-11 06:21 pm (UTC)I have been spending a lot of time there
this summer
which is not really a surprise
seeing how much time I used to spend
in the Seattle Arboretum
[specifically the japanese gardens]
[with in it]

Date: 2003-06-11 06:23 pm (UTC)I do all my color work with it
but
my heart is still
with my Contax 139
and B&W film
it is almost as old as I am
and I have had it for 14 years
you cant replace that sort of history
and ritual
with instant gratification
Re:
Date: 2003-06-12 04:04 am (UTC)seattle.

one day.
one day.
Re:
Date: 2003-06-12 04:04 am (UTC)and

it is there I shall return
I think
you will like it
Re:
Date: 2003-06-12 04:08 am (UTC)everyone i talk to says i would hate it because it's always so cold & rainy
but i know if i went, i would never want to leave.
no subject
Date: 2003-06-12 04:15 am (UTC)but
cold and rainy is an overstatement
we get a week of truely cold weather in winter
and a week of truely hot weather in summer
other than that it is comfortably mild
in the winter is can be brisk
and the summer warm
[but with a delicious ocean breeze to keep you cool]
rain is present but of a different sort that the south has
mostly it is a light rain
sprinkles really
to most native seattlites an umbrella is unneeded
in the spring and summer it is quite beautiful
light mistings of rain
illuminate rays of sunlight
and serve to freshen the city
for the nights adventures
I have lived many places
and there is no place as beautiful
as my home
Re:
Date: 2003-06-12 04:19 am (UTC)mmm.
sounds wonderful.
i've never lived anywhere else so it would definitely be an experience for me...
funny.
i don't have a southern accent.

Date: 2003-06-12 04:26 am (UTC)in a strange twist of fate
despite my attraction to the southern belle accent
I have never dated anyone with it
the two most serious relationships I have had
[the first my fiancee]
[the second a girl I dated for three and half years]
were with southern girls
who did not have a southern accents
truely I am just the screwed up result
of a southern man wedding a yankee woman
I get half of each gene
and an entirely confused
*mischevious grin*
Re:
Date: 2003-06-12 04:32 am (UTC)it's because i'm floridian.
though we are the furthest south,
we're not considered the 'deep [dirty] south'.
i should move to georgia.
so where were you born?
no subject
Date: 2003-06-12 04:36 am (UTC)in the loft of a barn
on a lesbian commune
called "Dragonwagon Farm"
in the Missouri Ozarks
so from my birth
I was destined to love women
and never close doors behind me
*wink*
Re:
Date: 2003-06-12 04:39 am (UTC)i think i read that in your journal.
i just didn't believe it.
lol.
no subject
Date: 2003-06-12 04:46 am (UTC)truth is stranger than fiction
my parents lived on a farm in the Ozarks
and my mother wanted to have a natural birth
our nearest neighbors
[encroaching at five miles away]
was this commune
and they happened to also have midwives
so it is there I was born
I have a quilt somewhere
made in honor of my birth
with each of the women at the commune
making a square
it is pretty kewl to look at now
that I am an old man
*Grin*
what always amuses me most
about the tale is how my mother
explains that in the beginning it was
just a normal commune
started by a group of couples
over time the women decided
that the men were lazy assholes
and eventually kicked them all off the commune
and that was that
I suppose it was the first warning
in my life
to be gentle with the women we love
as
one must be sure
that whatever shit they must put up with
is exceeded by the affections and kindness we do
else
trouble will ensue
I once heard a statistic
that stuck in my mind
it goes as follows
"50% of men do not kiss their wives goodbye when they leave the house, yet 80% of men will kiss their house goodbye when their wife leaves them"
Re:
Date: 2003-06-12 04:54 am (UTC)i wish i had stories like that to tell.
kewl
i find it funny how you spelled this word...
no subject
Date: 2003-06-12 04:57 am (UTC)are just that stories
they serve as pleasant amusement
to pass the days
with soft smiles and gentle laughs
but having stories or not having stories
does little
and means little
when it comes to happiness
I think most of having stories is about perspective, looking at things in a way that when they are retold they are humorous and illuminate a positive ideal, I however am still working on the latter
*smirk*
Excuse my interruption
Date: 2003-06-13 04:48 pm (UTC)I owned a landscape design company in college. I loved designing Japanese gardens... Funny I look at your pictures and can name nearly every flower. *sigh* Horticulture will always be a love of mine. I enjoyed your pics, though you I now have a crook in my neck from the angle. I'm a fan of the law of thirds... ;)
