Five years I've been using this journal
to record things from my innermost troubles and thoughts
to my most shallow observation and whimsy
this beats my previous journal record by 4 years and 51 weeks
I suppose that says something
[looking back on the what of course]
[makes me almost afraid to ask what that might be *grin*]
of course, I'd say that yall have a lot to do with it
over these past five years
so many friends and lovers have come and gone
[both here and in "real life"]
some drifted away, other left intentionally [or were asked to do so]
some passed away
and a few switched from one role to another
never completely replaced
by each new crop of friends and lovers
which rise up to fill the void
and somehow, even though the unique charactaristics of those we adore
never lets them be complete replaced
these new friends and new loves, each with their own follys, foibles and glories
manage to find a way to make that void seem a little less empty
some of you I've known here for nearly five years, others for less than a week
some I've met many times, others only once, most not at all
but tonight
each and every one of you is welcome to join me
for a glass of wine and a moments reflection, appreciation even
for all those people in our lives, whose love and affection
make the joy bearable and the suffering most amusing
with affection
your plural
