snow report

we are supposed to get between two and three feet from the blizzard
raging outside my house
tonight

and another foot or two
in the next storm coming tomorrow night

which should mean waist deep powder
for skiing on tues or weds
[depending on when they are able to open the roads]
[so that the hill can open]

which will be very sweet

of course

getting home tonight and shovelling nearly a foot of snow
out of my driveway in order to park my car
so that when the plow comes by
my car will be stuck behind a huge pile of snow
that I'll have to work on in the morning
if I want to go anywhere

and

just to give you an idea how hard it is coming down

I shovelled an eight foot by five foot section of my driveway
to park my car in
it took me about 30 minutes

by the time I finished
it had dropped nearly three inches
on the place where I had started

my front stairs arent even sloped any more either
just a flat line off the porch

this is gonna be an interesting couple of days

ok so

you know I said it was snowing

last night

well

I lied

compared to now

it was just sort of casually flaking

but anyway

I got my gators on and everything
[decided glacier boots]
[were prolly a bit much tho]

and am going out to explore
take a few pictures
dig a tunnel to the smoke shop

that sort of thing

be well

Winter is one thing

but this is just fucking

recockulous

I ran into my neighbor
as I sallied forth into the world
and at his suggestion decided
not to postpone clearing my driveway
as when the plow comes by tonight
it would make it nearly impossible to get through

there is something particularly delicious
about the utter futility of using a snow blower
during a blizzard

especially when the three hours
you spend clearing out just enough room
for your car to park in the driveway
and opening a gap in the five and a half foot
mountain of snow at the end so you can get out
to the street
knowing that every thing is closed
so you aren't actually going to go anywhere
and
before you have a chance to anyway
the city plow is going to come by
and put another three feet at the end of your driveway

standing in my newly created gap
the middle of which comes up to my nipples
admiring the hell out of my glacier gear
that has allowed me to move effectively
and stay nice and warm throughout the process
one can only muse at the insanity of it all

I decided to forgo bothering with the walkway
for the time being
as the snow there is only up around mid thigh

and it hardly seems worth the effort

and another thing

since

I've accepted the reality

that I am not going anywhere
any time soon

I'm gonna get drunk

I figger dark and stormies are appropriate

as I am sure
this is about as good as its gonna get
