today has sucked mostly

in
so many ways

first off
i still feel like crap
i think i got food poisoning from
the duck i had the other night

secondly
my cab came within
two inches of joining a
six car pile up on the way to the airport
this morning
which caused me to miss
the last flight of the day
to cusco
[and very likely]
[missed the opportunity to dine and schmooze]
[with the ever delightful girl_on_a_stick]

and lastly
the damn internet connection
at the hotel
has been kaput
all day
so i have been bored out of my mind
with little to do
being as i hardly feel up to
gallivanting around town

on the bright side
i did watch
american beauty
which is
always fabulous

i am on the six am
flight to cusco which
mean i have to be there at four thirty
its now a little before three

should be in around seven anyway

Who are your friends?

this post started as a response to another post
and began to have a life of its own
so i have continued it here


As sad and confusing as this truth maybe
the palestinians have no better friends
in the middle east
than israel and the jews

if their arab brethren were their friends
then why are they still herded into
refugee camps to suffer
the lowest possible human conditions
in
syria, lebanon and jordan

the refugee camps in the west bank
are joyrides to disneyland in comparison
[i have seen both first hand]

not that i am saying that
life in a west bank refugee camp is easy
its a mighty depressing way of life
but the difference between those camps
and the ones in arab countries
are stark and depressing

Jordan and Syria
have both on occasion
ordered their armies
to shell palestinian refugee camps
slaughtering wholesale
the populations

hell jordan even enacted
a policy of population control
in the late seventies and
early eighties
whenever they felt
the palestinian population
was getting to high
or too unruly
they would slaughter them

In the recent arab summits
every arab nation in the world
have called for an isreali withdrawal
and the creation of a palestinian state

Israel has only occupied those areas
since 1967
the UN mandated a palestinian state
in 1948
where were the arab worlds leaders then
where they were not was attending summits to pressure
jordan into removing it occupation forces
and liberating the palestinian state

the palestinian people are being basely used
used a cannon fodder
used as martyrs and victims

and the only country in the region
which has done anything to help them
is
israel

the combined arab nations
including the immensely wealthy
saudi arabia and kuwait
gave only seven million dollars
in humanitarian aid to the palestinians

seven million dollars out of
almost three hundred and twenty five million
which is required on an annual basis

but they give far more freely
to pay for bombs
and to reward the families of martyrs

Israel has given far more
Israel has provided many basic services to the west bank and gaza
Israel provided weapons and training for Arafats police force
in the still unfulfilled hope that he would make any attempt to curb terror

The palestinians living in Israel
have better lives than any palestinians
living in the middle east

they have citizenship
the right to vote
to own land and business

they are given equal treatment under the law

Our enemies claim that israel doesn't want peace
but that claim is ridiculous

since 1948
all israel has attempted to do
is gain peace and security

it has been attacked
time and time again
by every one of its neighbors
and still it has been israel
who bring concessions to the table to get peace

we gave the sinai back to egypt
we made trade and economic concessions to jordan
we made a unilateral withdrawal of our occupation of southern lebanon
and
we are absolutely willing to have a palestinian state as our peaceful friendly neighbors
what we are not willing to do
and what is not reasonable to ask of us
is that we empower the creation of a new country to attack and slaughter us
to add a new nation to the list of our enemies

Israel needs friends on its borders
Palestine needs the economic and technological assistance israel will provide it friends
but your people
and your leaders
continue to follow the words of violence and hatred
spewn by your arab brethren
who have proven themselves
through years of tyranny and neglect
to be no friend to your people

and now i must go
it is time to catch my plane

perhaps i will continue this later
if i feel more needs to be said

had discussed meeting for dinner
while we are in cusco

unfortunatly i have been delayed
and due to some circumstances beyond my control
our communication has been
mostly ineffective

I have the following two peices of information
