desperate amusement
I renamed my cats
thus

Damn and Spot

for this eve
as I attempt
sleep of which
I have no need
but know that
I shall later
require
they haunt me so

Lady Mc Beth
could nary
remove that damn spot
that haunted her
nights
any more than I

Damn and Spot
as I have
rechristened them
have decided this night
to be the devil's night

and my Christian bed
to be the battleground
on which the war of ages

shall be fought
but as always
never to be decided
